The home is a child’s first learning environment, and the parent/guardian is the first teacher. Research has proven that children’s home environment has the most significant impact on their education and success in life; therefore, the home culture is very important in a child’s development. Every child deserves A “Beacon of Hope” home where the culture nurtures the “Promise of Greatness”. It has a culture that cultivates positive self-esteem and attitude, confidence, good character, and the desire to learn. Sometimes, circumstances cause a decline in those aspects of hope that make up the home culture, and there is a need for revitalization. The aim of this program is to equip parents/guardians with leadership skills and attributes to develop a culture of hope where every child in the household has the attitude of being at Promise of Greatness” instead of “at risk of failure.”
It takes deliberate and systematic positive actions in the home climate, over time, to create the “Beacon of Hope” culture and climate. This program is designed to saturate parents/guardians, children, and their environment with positive actions and imagery with multi-sensory appeal in order to change thinking thereby producing positive actions. These repetitive actions will replace the old ones and become new positive habits. These habits will become the child/children’s character, giving them the hope, tenacity, and skills to succeed at home, in school, and life. These methods are effective because Children will remember more of what they see, what they hear, and how it made them feel. Therefore, the activities the children and parents will experience in this program will have a lasting positive impact.
To enable parents/guardians to acquire the knowledge, skills, attitude, and motivation to improve the quality and quantity of engagement in their children’s lives at home, school, and in the community through training that focuses on “how to” methods and strategies
Parenting by Design Not by Chance presents a model that can be utilized by parents/guardians and others to help children become successful adults. By definition, the word “design” means to create a detailed plan; while the word “chance” means to do something in an unplanned manner. These lessons teach parents/guardians how to develop a parenting vision and how to build a family environment that nurtures the vision to fruition along with the development of parenting skills and life management skills necessary for them to deliberately implement appropriate actions. The PLEAD Program empowers parents with knowledge and skills to become informed and engaged in their children’s lives at home, school and the community.
The training is customized to client needs and capacity ranging from single selected workshops from the series to a six to twelve week Parent Leadership, Empowerment and Development Institute where the participants end the program with a parenting
